Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

And we thought Winter Wonderlands were just for the Holiday Seasons! Mother Nature sure surprised us with the immense amount of snowfall Washington received over the last two weeks! Many of us woke up to find well of over a foot of snow not just in our yards but also on our roofs.

While we can’t control the weather, we can take care of your roof. Here at Guardian we believe that to whom much is given much is excepted and we have been given a lot! This is why every year since our inception we have donated in some way to those less fortunate in our local community. For the last several years we have partnered with the One Warm Coat Organization to hold coat drives throughout the Holiday Season, and this year we were lucky enough to hold another one! Starting December 1st, 2018 and ending January 31st, 2018, Guardian received donation after donation from folks within the greater King and Pierce counties. We are so excited to announce that we have collected over 330 coats and have received $100 in monetary donations. On behalf of all of us here at Guardian I would like to personally thank everyone who donated to our drive; we plan on blessing the following charitable organizations with your donations-

• KentHOPE Day Center of Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission
• Multi-Service Center in Federal Way

Ice Dams and Their Prevention

Ice dams are a pervasive and damaging winter roofing problem typically caused by a combination of a poor attic or roof ventilation and warm attic space. They can also be exacerbated by a clogged or poorly draining gutter system. If ignored, ice dams can cause serious damage to your roof, gutters, paint, insulation and interior drywall and other surfaces. Preventing ice dams usually requires improving ventilation and insulation and removing heat sources from the attic.

The Guardian Gazette: January 2019 Newsletter

Happy New Year! We are so excited to kick off another year with our awesome team and amazing clientele!

Some people say you should never look back, but here at Guardian we believe looking back helps you see how far you’ve come. In 2018 we achieved a lot; we added Pest Control to our list of services, welcomed a visit from the Mayor of Auburn, emphasized safety and technical training within our team, helped 489 homeowners replace their roofs, won the Angie’s List 2018 Super Service Award, started the Guardian Halo Project, and was featured on the cover of Roofing Contractor magazine, all within 365 days. We’re proud of our accomplishments and humbled that we get to do what we love every day.

We’re so excited for what’s around the corner in 2019 and we hope you’ll take this journey with us!

Congratulations to Mrs. Cindy Lu Vaughn on being selected as the 1st ever recipient of the Guardian Halo Project!

 

Guardian Home recently announced the winner of the newly established Halo Project which awards one homeowner in dire need a major roof repair or roof replacement, which they otherwise might not be able to afford on their own. Guardian has historically offered this award through partnerships however this year they decided to start the Halo Project on their own.

Contestants were encouraged to apply themselves or nominate others starting Thanksgiving Day, 2018 through December 31, 2018. The primary qualifying requirements for the project were nominees must be 21 years of age or older, own the home in question, reside in that home and are current on the mortgage payments.On January 4th 2019, Guardian announced Cindy Lu Vaughn as the winner of the roof giveaway.

Mrs. Cindy Lu Vaughn of Federal Way Washington is the recipient of the first ever Guardian Halo Project. As as the beloved neighborhood grandma whose doors are always open to anyone in need, Mrs. Vaughn received an overwhelming amount of nominations from her local community. After reading through all of the glowing nominations it became clear that this tight knit community wanted to give back to the woman who had given so much to them, even while despite her own struggles. Mrs. Vaughn is recovering from a brain bleed from two years ago and Mr. Vaughn is battling serious health issues of his own. Friends and neighbors always see a cheery disposition despite the couple’s dire circumstances.

The Vaughn’s home, while filled with warmth and good cheer, is in bad shape due to the deterioration of their roof. A large portion is in such poor condition that it has been tarped-off for the last two years and the majority of the roof is in disrepair.

According to Guardian’s Lori Swanson, ”Giving back to the community is at the core of Guardian and we are so excited to be able to help such a worthy recipient as Cindy Lu Vaughn.”

Guardian Employee Appreciation Harvest Festival

 

You can’t be the best at what you do without having the best employees. That is why Guardian Home Services celebrates their staff and families for everything they do. Guardian held its first ever Employee Appreciation Harvest Festival recently for staff and their families to have some downtime and enjoy family-friendly activities and entertainment.

Happy Employee’s Are Essential To Success

It’s impossible to have a great company without having employees that believe in your vision and are dedicated to helping customers with what they need. Guardian employees are known for being knowledgeable, professional, and courteous on every job under every circumstance.

Over 120 people attended, which is the biggest turnout Guardian has ever had for an employee event. What’s the secret to any great event? The answer is almost always the food. And this event did not disappoint. Guests left with happy bellies full of hot dogs, carne asada, and tamales.

One of the best ways to develop the spirit and morale of a workplace is by celebrating everything that they have accomplished as a team. Events such as the Employee Appreciation Harvest Festival let staff kick back and have fun with their families, co-workers, and colleagues, both in their departments and otherwise.

Creating A Family-Centered Company

Protecting homes and families is a big part of Guardian’s business, and it is no different when it comes to their employees. There were many activities for the kids, including pumpkin painting and face painting to go with the Halloween season. There was also a petting zoo with an amazing assortment of animals, as well as camel rides. Not only that, but the bounce house was a popular spot for kids to get their bounce on.

Music, Food, & Fun

The T-Mobile bus was also in attendance, and was offering family discounts for Guardian employees, along with candy for the kids. They also provided the musical accompaniment for the day with family-friendly Halloween tunes.

Importance Of Roof Maintenance

In Seattle, we have wet winters. Warning, the traditional definition of “wet” does not apply here. Unlike other places in the U.S.the have regular rain storms, our weather can be like living in a cloud.  We get a little bit of rain almost every day throughout the winter. We do get some sun, but most days are are gray and the sun creeps out in the afternoons. Temperatures also get as cold as the upper 30s, sometimes down to the 20s. This damp, gray weather makes it hard for our roofing materials to keep our homes and businesses warm and dry. Regular maintenance for your roof is essential.

When was the last time your roof got a tune up?

When appliances, HVAC systems and plumbing systems malfunction and need repairs, it’s rather obvious most of the time. The same can be said for most parts of your home, But few of us notice that our roof is in need of repair.until we have a major problem.
