A Message From Your Guardian Roofing Family

Dear Customers

A Message From Your Guardian Roofing Family

Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by COVID-19. As our own community, and those around the world, are struggling with Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are closely monitoring updates and recommendations from the CDC and our local health officials. We know you rely on us when roof emergencies happen and as always, we want to be here for you. While the risk is presently low for a majority of people, we have taken increased steps to ensure we can continue to serve you while protecting your health and the health of our technicians.

Enhanced Safety Measures

  • Technicians, as well as our office staff, have been briefed on safety practices within our customers’ homes and on CDC’s recommendations for social distancing.
  • Our employees are closely monitoring their own health. To date, there have been no reported cases of an employee exhibiting symptoms related to COVID-19. In the event there is any individual who is presenting symptoms or fear they may have been exposed, they will be self-quarantined, along with any employees they’ve been in contact with.
  • If we don’t shake your hand, we mean no offense. We just want to minimize the spread of germs to keep everyone healthy.
  • Roofing Consultants use one-time-use, disposable shoe covers and gloves, and will take precautions to clean tools and equipment if it is necessary to enter your home.
  • We encourage our customers to reschedule their appointments in the event of illness. We will happily reschedule you at a time when you are feeling your best.

How We Ensure Piece of Mind

  • The majority of roofing work is done outside and is non-invasive to you and your family
  • We hire responsibly – our technicians are background checked and drug screened for your safety.
  • Our workmanship is backed by the largest manufacturer’s, which allows us to offer exclusive warranties.
  • We offer special financing options (o.a.c.) so you can hold onto more of your hard earned income while still caring for your home.
  • Should you request it, our team will be able to mitigate face to face meetings by utilizing technological mediums like Skype, FaceTime, and other digital imagery platforms.

How You Can Stay Safe

We encourage you to stay up to date on the status of the Virus. For information on how the virus spreads or what to do if you have symptoms, you can call the DOH (Department of Health) at 1-800-525-0127 or check out the following websites:

Do Metal Roofs Need to be Painted?

Do Metal Roofs Need to be Painted?

Metal roofs have a lot going for them in terms of their durability, resistance to damage, and longevity. However, you might be wondering about their aesthetic appeal. After all, when you think of the word “metal” you think of a cold, limited visual appeal. Fortunately, metal roofs are actually very flexible when it comes to their aesthetic. This is because you can have your metal roof painted, which means there countless options when it comes to matching your metal roof’s look with the existing style of your home. It’s also worth noting the other ways painting your metal roof can be beneficial.

The Benefits of Painting a Metal Roof

In addition to improving the curb appeal of your property, painting your metal roof can help to improve your roof’s energy efficiency. This is dependent on the type of paint you use. The color you choose (such as white or other light colors) can make your roof more reflective. In turn, your home will absorb less heat, thereby requiring less energy to cool. Not to mention adding a coat of paint is, in essence, adding another layer of protection against general wear and tear.

Painting an Old Metal Roof

You might be a little hesitant to paint an older metal roof. Generally speaking, there’s nothing wrong with doing so. In fact, repainting metal roofs is recommended at least once every ten years. But if your metal roof is reaching the end of its expected lifespan and is beginning to experience issues, then painting it isn’t going to fix its problems. At this point, you’ll be better off replacing your roof.

Potential Drawbacks of Painting a Metal Roof

There are only a couple of potential drawbacks to painting a metal roof which can reduce it’s effectiveness as well as hurt your curb appeal.

  • If you don’t apply the paint properly
  • If you don’t use the right paint

A metal roof requires latex-based paint. This is because metal expands and contracts as temperatures change. Latex-based paint can stretch so it won’t be affected when the metal does expand or contract.

Find out more about painting or installing a metal roof by contacting us at Guardian Roofing to schedule an appointment in the greater Puget Sound area today.

Hello Friends!
Lori here! Guardian has some exciting news that I am so excited to share with you! Guardian recently had the incredible privilege to partner with Classic Metal Roofing Systems, the industry leader in metal roofing shingles.

Thanks to this exclusive partnership with Classic Metal Roofing Systems (part of the Isaiah Industries brand based in Ohio) Guardian Roofing now has the ability to provide our customers the durability, longevity and visual beauty of a metal shingled roof. Metal roofing is popular not only for the design flexibility and style it offers, but also for long term value when it comes to protecting a home, reducing environmental impacts, and increasing energy efficiency.

The ability to make metal roofing look like other more tradition construction materials affords consumers the opportunity to use a variety of colors and designs. Essentially, it can be used to mimic other materials but with the added benefits of durability and longevity. Metal roofing or a metal shingled roof can last several decades and in the long run cost less over its lifetime than cheaper alternatives.

We are so excited to bring this incredible roofing alternative to our valued roofing clientele. If you would like to learn more about Metal Shingles, please check out our informative page here. As always thank you for your continued support of the Guardian Team and Family!

This month’s featured review:

“I just bought my first home a couple of weeks ago and we found out the hard way that we need a new roof. Not only was Justin on time, but he was very professional, friendly and walked me through the entire process and was extremely transparent with pricing, giving us more than two options and making sure that I was comfortable with what I was deciding on. Since we also just bought the house, he offered financing options and payment options just in case the credit is not where it should be. I would definitely recommend this company and even though he was awesome, I hope that I don’t have to see them again for the next 20-30 years, lol. Thanks Justin!!”

You’ve probably heard of “overall wellness” services, a healthcare term for delivering whole-body health and wellness rather than treating a surface problem. Homes are like that, too. Sometimes a residential property problem impacts several areas. Wouldn’t it be easier if your community had a company that practices whole-house wellness…

Our New Year’s resolution is to provide YOU (our amazing customers) with only the best customer service, quality products, and superior craftsmanship. We thank you for continuing to trust Guardian with your home and we hope to serve you for many more years to come.

We also want to continue our legacy of giving back to our community in a way unique to us. This is why we started the Guardian Halo Project, where we gift someone in need with a major roof repair or total roof replacement. When we dreamed up the Halo Project back in 2018, I could have never imagined we would receive as much support, enthusiasm, and volunteerism from our team and our community, and it is because of this outpouring of support that I am so excited to continue the Halo Project in 2020.

Most importantly we want to find someone truly in need of the Guardian Halo Project, and to do that we need your help. If you know of a homeowner in need of a roof repair or replacement but cannot afford to fix it on their own, please nominate them on our nomination page or spread the word about the Halo Project on social media.

Don’t wait! The nomination platform closes on February 14th with the lucky recipient to be announced February 17th! Be someone’s Guardian Angel by nominating them for the Halo Project today!

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Metal Roofs?

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Metal Roofs?

Choosing a new roof for your home can be a bit overwhelming, especially when you consider there are many different types of roofs to choose from. When choosing a roof, you’ll want to take into account more than just the price. After all, you’ll want to make sure the roof you install will do a good job protecting your home against the elements and will last for years to come. One type of roof you should take into consideration is metal roofing. The following are some of the pros and cons of metal roofing.

The Advantages of Metal Roofing

  • Metal roofs are very durable – They can sustain up to 140 mph winds without experiencing damage. Certain types of metal roofs can also withstand impact damage.
  • Metal roofs are long-lasting – In part because of their durability, metal roofs can last anywhere from 40 to 70 years.
  • Metal is fire-resistant – Metal will not spark or catch fire.
  • Metal is insect-resistant – Unlike other types of roofs, metal does not attract insects. This is because metal doesn’t retain moisture and can’t rot.
  • Metal roofs are energy-efficient – Metal reflects heat, which means a metal roof can help reduce your cooling costs by as much as 25%.
  • Metal roofs are environmentally-friendly – Metal roofs are often manufactured with anywhere from 25% to 95% recycled materials and are completely recyclable at the end of their lifespan.

The Disadvantages of Metal Roofing

  • Metal roofs can be expensive – Depending on the quality of the metal, a metal roof can be anywhere from two to three times as expensive as other types of roofs. However, these initial costs are typically covered by the money you’ll save on energy costs. Additionally, you won’t have to replace your roof anytime soon.
  • Improper installation can cause issues – If you don’t have a reputable, experienced roofer properly install your metal roof, it can lead to a lot of issues. For example, the metal needs to breathe due to expansion and contraction. If not installed correctly, the metal panels may loosen.

Metal roofing can be a great choice due to its many benefits, but it also presents drawbacks. Be sure to consider both when deciding on whether metal roofing is for you.
